SALISBURY – Two Lilly Avenue residents were displaced Wednesday night after a fire ignited near a duplex apartment’s kitchen stove.
Salisbury Fire Capt. David Morris said firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen, but the damage appeared to be “pretty extensive.”
No one was injured in the fire, he said.
“When the crews first arrived they had heavy fire in the kitchen and heavy smoke throughout the primary apartment,” Morris said.
Crews were notified about 7:40 p.m. It took firefighters 15 minutes to knock the flames down.
The cause of the fire is believed to be “combustibles on the stove,” Morris said.
All Salisbury Fire stations responded, along with Spencer Fire, Salisbury Police and Rowan EMS.
Granite Quarry, Millers Ferry and South Salisbury Fire also assisted and provided coverage for the city during the fire.
