Susan Kluttz reappointed to RCCC board

SALISBURY – Susan Kluttz, mayor pro tem of Salisbury, has been reappointed to the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Board of Trustees by the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education.
“Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is a city treasure and a critical partner in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties,” said Kluttz. “I am proud to continue serving the college and our community as a trustee.”
Kluttz served as mayor of Salisbury for fourteen years. Kluttz has served on the college board since 2008. Kluttz’s term will run through 2016.
She was recently awarded the 2012 Mayor’s Cup, presented for sustained contributions to the city of Salisbury, and a 2012 “Champion of Afterschool” by the NC Center for Afterschool Programs and the National League of Cities Youth, Education and Families Institute.
“Rowan-Cabarrus is fortunate to retain such a distinguished member of our board,” said Carl M. Short, chair of the Rowan-Cabarrus Board of Trustees.
“I am proud to serve alongside, Susan Kluttz and know that she will continue to be a valuable asset to the college in ‘building sustainable futures through the power of learning.'”
Kluttz serves on the board of directors of F&M Bank and Salisbury Community Development Corporation. She also sits on the executive committee of Salisbury-Rowan Project Safe Neighborhoods, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Board of Visitors. Kluttz was a founding member of the North Carolina Metropolitan Mayors Coalition, serving as vice-chairman, and was recently appointed to the North Carolina Governor’s Gang Task Force.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in English. She is married to District Court Judge William C. Kluttz Jr. They are the parents of two grown children, Lt. Cmd. William C. Kluttz III, USN, of Newport, R.I., and Susan Kluttz Smith of Burlington, and one grandson, William C. Kluttz IV.
