In the photograph at left are members of the Granite Quarry Class of 1942. Those who are still living (15 or 16) will gather on Saturday for the last time.
Darrell Williams, president of the alumni group, said a planning committee had met and decided that many of those who remain are infirm and find it difficult to attend.
“Therefore,” he said, “it was decided that after 70 years this would be the last reunion of the class.”
The gathering will begin at 4 p.m. with fellowship and appetizers at Union Lutheran Church’s old fellowship building, 4770 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury. Dinner will follow at 5 p.m.
Williams said that there will be no cost for the dinner but that a count of those planning to come would help. Call Kathleen Raney Brown at 704-279-2613, if you’re planning to attend.
