?SALISBURY – Authorities arrested three Charlotte residents Tuesday after officers said they tried to pass a government check using fake IDs.
Salisbury Police arrested Janique Irenetta Williams, of Lynn Street in Charlotte; Candice Lavonna Tucker, of 31 Nobles Ave.; and Omar Tumu Clarke, of North College Street.
Arrest reports said the group went to a location in Charlotte and had a fake photo identification made with a false name.
An employee at A Friend Indeed Check Cash, on North Long Street, called authorities about 4:30 p.m. after they suspected a U.S. Treasury check was bad. The check, officers said, was for $9,080.
Police said they found a valid North Carolina driver’s license in Williams pocketbook with her real information.
Williams, 45, was charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense and a misdemeanor charge of getting a fake ID.
Clarke and Tucker were also charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense. Tucker was later found to have an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court in Mecklenburg County.
Clarke and Tucker were released after posting bond.
Williams remained in jail Wednesday under a $10,000 bond.
