After a summer of fun in the sun, Cub Scout Pack 443 – 3 time winner of the Cub Cup in Rowan District – is excited to be back in action and gearing up for a fall full of special events and activities, which will lead all the boys closer to moving up in rank, while along the way receiving advancements, belt loops, badges and, of course, learning invaluable life-long lessons.
September’s core value is cooperation for Tigers and Cubs; Readyman and Outdoorsman for Webelos I; and Handyman for Webelos II.
Fall events kick off with Webelos Camporee at St. John’s Retreat Property on High Rock Lake Sept. 22. “Casting for Cubs” is a wonderful opportunity for newcomers. Register to join Pack 443 by Sept. 28 and receive a free fishing lure, which you can use Sept. 29 when fishing experts will be on-hand to demonstrate proper casting at Dan Nicholas.
Other upcoming events this fall include Goldrush at Camp Barnhardt (Oct. 19-21); Family Camping at Marrow Mountain (Nov. 3-4); and the Veterans Day Parade and Pizza Party (Nov. 12).
Looking to Winter 2013, the classic Pinewood Derby will be held and a unique opportunity to “Sleep with the Sharks” at Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A few spots are left for elementary school-age boys interested in Cub Scouts. Regular Monday night meetings and monthly pack meetings are held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in downtown Salisbury. Tigers meet 6-7 p.m.; Webelos I meets 6:30-7:30 p.m.; and all other dens meet 7-8 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
