This week’s top athlete is East Rowan defensive lineman T.J. Jefferson.

The Mustangs’ 320-pound senior led East to a 27-7 win against Carson on Friday, breaking a three-game losing streak.

As East’s nose guard, Jefferson was in on 11 tackles and had two sacks. His forceful play in the middle helped limit the county’s most prolific offense to 176 total yards and 11 net rushing yards.

Jefferson also played at left guard on offense and helped the Mustangs rush for 244 yards.
