SALISBURY – Carolinas HealthCare System plans to open its first urgent care facility in Salisbury and will offer public tours this weekend.
Located at 340 Jake Alexander Blvd. W., Suite 105, in the Pinnacle Office Park, the Carolinas HealthCare Urgent Care-Salisbury will host an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, including free kids’ activities, refreshments and tours.
The facility will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The urgent care will serve patients of all ages, and a board-certified physician will be on staff at all times.
“Families need access to quality, convenient medical care when their physician is not available or if they don’t have a personal physician,” said Stephen Jones, vice president of CHS Carolinas Physicians Network Urgent Care Division.
“With our first urgent care in Rowan County, we’ll expand access to this important service to serve more patients in our community.”
Dr. Benjamin F. Simmons III will be the lead physician at the new urgent care.
Simmons is a graduate of Howard University College of Medicine, and served his residency in family medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He earned undergraduate degrees in chemistry and biology at Longwood University in Virginia.
The new urgent care has four exam rooms and two treatment rooms in its 3,668-square-foot space. It will feature digital medical records to provide easy communication with physicians at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord and other CHS facilities in case follow-up care or treatment is needed.
