The four teens who saved friend Gavin Littleton after he was critically injured from diving into shallow water at High Rock Lake will receive the Ernest Curtis Hero Award from the Civitan Club of Salisbury this afternoon.
Zack Lemmon pulled Littleton, 15, from the water after he attempted to make a shallow dive off a pontoon boat, but instead went straight down.
Nick Cornacchione gave him CPR immediately following the accident, while Thomas Tucker drove the boat to find help. Dakota Honeycutt called 911.
Littleton, who was paralyzed following the accident, is undergoing treatment at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, which specializes in rehabilitation for people with spinal cord and brain injuries.
