SECU taking donations for troops

The State Employees Credit Union will collect wish list items for military personnel deployed around the world.
The collection will take place Sept. 17-Oct. 31. Items may be dropped off at the local credit union on 1030 Mooresville Road.
All donations must be new and must be able to fit in a 10-by-10-by-5-inch box. No used items. The highest need is for travel-sized products (no hotel samples) to maximize the number of items included. Please, no pressurized (aerosol) cans or glass containers.
Food items – Snacks (individual packages of crackers, cookies, trail mix, protein bars, dried fruit, nuts, beef jerky, hard candy – no chocolate that can melt);powdered drink mixes (small, individually sealed packages).
Toiletries – (no hotel samples please) shampoo (travel size only, no full or oversized bottles) deodorant,bar soap,lotion (travel size only, no full or oversized bottles),toothpaste (no oversized tubes),toothbrushes (individual only, no multipacks),dental floss,disposable razors (small packs),moist towelettes (small packs only, no diaper wipes or oversized packs),sunscreen (no larger full-size or oversized bottles, no aerosol cans),insect repellent wipes with Deet.
Medicine/first aid – Bandagess (no oversized boxes),antacids (small packages), Tylenol/Advil/Aleve (small bottles/packages).
Clothing – Socks, above the ankle/crew (white or black);toboggans (black, brown, tan, olive green).
Entertainment/miscellaneous – decks of cards,travel games (small handheld games only, no large boxes/containers),puzzle books (small or mini sized books only, no full or oversized books),post-card size stationery (no 8 by 11 or oversized notebooks, paper or tablets),pens.
