The race for the east area seat on the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education has been narrowed to two.
Michael Lambe, founder of the Rowan County Tea Party Patriots, took himself out of the running four days after filing ended Aug. 17.
He has yet to return a phone call from a Post reporter seeking comment.
Lambe’s withdrawal leaves incumbent Dr. Jim Emerson and newcomer Josh Wagner.
Emerson, the board’s current chairman, is seeking his third term. The 73-year-old Richfield resident is a retired high school principal.
This is the first time Wagner, 30, has sought elected office. The Salisbury resident is a sales representative for H&E Equipment Services.
Lambe is the second candidate to withdraw from the school board race.
Incumbent Linda Freeze decided to ditch her re-election bid for the southeast area seat due to a personal situation.
That whittled the southeast race down to newcomers Susan Cox and Dr. Lynn Marsh.
Incumbent Bryce Beard has three opponents for the Salisbury spot. They include Chuck Hughes, Connie Johnson and Quentin Woodward Jr.
