KANNAPOLIS – Two men were arrested after authorities said they robbed a Wendy’s on South Cannon Boulevard Sunday.
Kannapolis Police said 20-year-old Shaquan Tyreik Hargrove, of East Fisher Street in Salisbury, and 18-year-old Ben Alexander Purefoy, of Wilkie Drive in Kannapolis, were both charged with felony second-degree kidnapping and felony robbery with a dangerous weapon.
An arrest report said two men dressed in all black entered the store Sunday just before 1 a.m.
The manager told authorities one of the men had a knife and forced the manager from her office to one of the cash registers in the business.
The second man was armed with a wooden baton, and one of the men forced another employee into a walk-in cooler during the robbery.
The suspects fled on foot through the back door of the business.
Two men matching the description were found walking down Dale Earnhardt Boulevard as officers responded to the call, the report said.
Police said the men were in possession of “several items of evidence” and more were found along the path from Wendy’s.
Both men were in the Cabarrus County jail Tuesday under bonds of $200,000 apiece.
