GOLD HILL – An accident killed one person Sunday evening in southeastern Rowan County, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened around 7:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Old Beatty Ford Road in Gold Hill, near Zion Church Road.
A Mini Cooper traveling west veered left across the road and overturned onto the passenger side, authorities said. Initial calls to 911 said a woman was trapped inside.
The victim, who authorities said was not wearing a seatbelt, was declared dead at the scene about 7:30 p.m.
The victim’s identity was not released, pending notification of relatives.
