Salisbury teen injured, taken to hospital after Jake Alexander Blvd. wreck

?SALISBURY – A Salisbury teen remained in critical condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Friday night after his pickup hit a Food Lion tractor-trailer on West Jake Alexander Boulevard.
Spencer Isaacs, 18, was northbound in the right-hand lane on Jake Alexander, heading toward U.S. 70, when he crossed the center lane and collided with the tractor-trailer about 6:20 a.m.
The tractor-trailer, driven by Paul Newsome, 44, of Rockwell, was southbound on Jake Alexander from the Harrison Road area. Isaacs 1992 Chevy S-10 hit the left rear trailer axle. The pickup traveled about 70 feet before it stopped, said North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper D.R. Morgan.
Isaacs had extensive injuries and was in surgery at the trauma center in Winston-Salem on Friday afternoon. He was initially taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Baptist. He was wearing a seatbelt. The pickup did not have airbags.
Newsome was not injured.
Isaacs was cited for traveling left of center.
