Thanks to the Salisbury Post for being a real hometown paper
In response to Elizabeth Cook’s request for feedback on the recent changes to the Post, I like it! As a matter of fact, we like everything about the Post.
We recently moved to the big town of Granite Quarry from the slightly bigger city of Archdale. We had subscribed to the High Point Enterprise for more than 41 years and were concerned about the gap canceling it would leave. No need to worry. The Post closed the gap immediately. From day one, we’ve been pleased with the format, style and reporting philosophy of the Post.
Even the most controversial subjects are presented fairly, completely and with unbiased clarity. The stories of tragedy such as the West Rowan students’ deaths are handled with class, compassion and empathy. Mark Wineka’s writing reminds me of award-winning Jimmy Tomlin’s writing in the High Point Enterprise. I enjoy both these gentlemen’s writings.
Thank you, Post, for welcoming us back home. When I was a child, my family always subscribed to the Salisbury Evening Post. That was before the days of early morning delivery. Keep up the good work!

RITA rides much appreciated
My wife and I are senior citizens and handicapped. Neither of us is able to drive.
We want to thank the staff of RITA (Rowan transit) van and the drivers. They are very kind, and we love and appreciate them.

Islam and multiculturalism
After Sept. 11, 2001, the world took a major turn. A force made a new declaration of its existence, purpose and resolve.
The Western media continued to say Islam was a peaceful religion, but did they really know? President Bush declared that Osama Bin Laden and his cohorts had hijacked a great religion. I cannot agree.
If Islam is a peaceful religion, why are there so many verses in the Quran about killing the infidels and those who reject Islam? If Islam is a peaceful religion, why isn’t there even one Muslim country that will allow freedom of religion and free speech?
Let’s look at France today. Did you know there are 750 “no go” zones in that country? What does that mean? These zones are virtually off limits to non-Muslims. Islam is the religion, and Sharia law is the government. In England within a 10-year span, 2,000 churches have been converted into mosques.
There are now at least 88 Sharia courts set up in England. How did this happen? By one word — multiculturalism.
Multiculturalism is the gateway Islam uses to gain special rights by using a country’s good graces and good intentions to treat everyone with respect and kindness. Islam has one agenda — their own.
France has lost the battle, and England is losing theirs; will America be next? Islam has gained more ground in America with special rights being given them by this administration. While we are broke, billions of our taxpayer dollars are being given to countries like Egypt, where freedom does not exist.
