RALEIGH (AP) — Three North Carolina Republican candidates for the House of Representatives will get their chance to speak to a national audience after all.
Richard Hudson, Mark Meadows and David Rouzer are among the congressional candidates slated to take the podium Tuesday at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.
Their opportunities to speak looked unclear as the storm Isaac neared the Florida coast, forcing GOP officials to scrap Monday’s opening day and condense four days of the convention into three. Still, the North Carolina speeches will air while convention telecasts are relegated to cable TV.
Rouzer, Meadows and Hudson are all challenging Democratic incumbents this November. Their chances at victory may be improved after last year’s redistricting. Democrats currently have a 7-6 advantage in North Carolina’s U.S. House delegation.
