Man charged with Enochville vehicle break-ins

SALISBURY — A 22-year-old High Shoals man was arrested and placed under a $520,000 bond Friday.
Authorities said the man broke into several vehicles in an Enochville neighborhood in February.
Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Carl Dangerfield charged Joshua Ray Murphy with three counts of felony breaking and entering motor vehicle, three counts of misdemeanor larceny, two counts of felony breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny of a firearm and felony financial card theft.
Murphy broke into a 1994 Honda Civic on Feb. 14 and a 2005 Chevy Express Van on Feb. 13, according to arrest reports.
He is accused of stealing a digital camera, a .25 caliber handgun, jewelry and several purses from residents in the Tanglewood neighborhood, reports show.
Murphy was also charged on outstanding warrants from High Shoals.
Authorities said Murphy broke into a neighbor’s silver Kia Spectra and stole a purse and checkbook.
He remained in Rowan County jail Friday evening.
