CLEVELAND — A Cleveland woman is accused of stealing from her employer, starting her first day on the job.
Racheal Lutz Kramer, 46, is charged with one count of embezzlement, eight counts of forgery and uttering, and three counts of identity theft for allegedly opening credit card accounts in the name of her employer, Alphonso Myers of Tarheel Dog Treats.
Myers discovered the unauthorized transactions July 13, according to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report. Kramer had been an employee since June 16, 2011 when the transactions first occurred, said Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford.
Myers fired Kramer in mid-July.
A total of $25,000 had been spent on various purchases using credit cards and checks.
“She’d obtained additional lines of credit without the consent of the owner,” Sifford said.
Sifford said Kramer used the cards at department stores, convenience stores, restaurants and the grocery store.
Once Myers realized what happened, he had an attorney perform an audit of his accounts.
Kramer remained in the Rowan County Detention Center today under a $75,000 bond.
