David E. Setzer and Barbara G. Setzer of Salisbury celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 21, 2012, at a dinner with relatives in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Setzers were married July 21, 1962, on the bride’s front lawn in Berlin, N.J., by the town mayor.
David retired from Catawba College after 36 years and is now the Executive Director of the Robertson Family Foundation. Barbara retired after 23 years as Director of Administration at Waterworks Visual Arts Center.
The couple’s children are daughter Dana E. Curry and husband Buddy of Salisbury and son Mark D. Setzer of Senatobia, Miss.
The anniversary dinner also celebrated 74 years of marriage by Barbara’s parents, Arthur and Dorothy Grimmie of Berlin, N.J., who are 96 and 93 years old, respectively. The occasion was special since the Grimmies were present at the Setzers’ 25th and 50th anniversaries and the Setzers were present at the Grimmies 50th anniversary celebration in 1988.
