New Spencer library hours start Monday

SPENCER — The Spencer Public Library will have new hours, starting Monday.
The library will be open 2 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays and 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The summer reading program continues with a change in scheduling for the writing contest.
Awards for the best “Tired of…” stories and illustrations will be presented during a program at 4 p.m. Aug. 21. Author Dicy McCullough will read from her books as well.
Awards will be presented for first, second and third places for stories in both grade groups, kindergarten through second and third through sixth.
First place awards will be presented for illustrations in each grade group. Stop by the library for a copy of the rules for the contests.
In addition to the writing contest, children in grades kindergarten through sixth are encouraged to keep track of the amount of time they spend reading in order to earn packages of Silly Bandz. This continues until Aug. 24.
