Parents can take in dinner or catch up on their favorite shows during a quiet night without their children Friday.
Partners in Learning Child Development and Family Resource Center will host a Parents Night Out while Kids Camp Out fundraiser from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
During the event, children will eat dinner, play outdoor games, make bird feeders and roast marshmallows for s’mores.
“We’re asking the kids to bring their pajamas and sleeping bag so they can lay out and watch the outdoor movie,” said Katie Zink, an infant-toddler family specialist with the center.
Cost for the event is $25 per child and $10 for each additional child. The age limit is 12 years old.
The money will go toward the purchase of iPads for the center’s play therapists.
“The play therapists work with children who have developmental delays or have a condition like Down syndrome or autism,” Zink said. “There are tons of apps that are very good for teaching children in general and also for developmental purposes.”
Zink said the iPad applications can help children with everything from learning their colors to improving their speech.
