From staff reports
South Rowan catcher Eric Tyler has committed to East Carolina’s baseball program.
The rising senior has been a three-year starter and three-time .300 hitter for coach Thad Chrismon and has been all-county the past two seasons.
Tyler is batting .332 for his prep career with 66 runs scored and 49 RBIs and is considered a top-flight defensive catcher.
A story is upcoming.
Tyler is playing this summer for the South Charlotte Panthers 2013 showcase team. The Panthers recently won the Capital City Classic at N.C. State.
Carson rising junior Colton Laws competes for the South Charlotte Panthers 2014 team and played recently in the Perfect Game World Wood Bat National 16U in Atlanta.
The SCP team played six games in 48 hours, went 11-1 and finished second in a field of 240 teams from 31 states and Puerto Rico. SCP lost 1-0 to Team Georgia in the championship game at Georgia Tech.
Laws was 1-0 in the event, winning against 6-4-3 Double Play from Marietta, Ga. Laws also batted .300.
The SCP teams will complete their summer schedules this weekend in Greenville, N.C., in the Dynamic World Series. Salisbury rising senior Brian Bauk will be joining the SCP 2013 team for that event.
