CHINA GROVE — The 30th annual China Grove Farmers Day kicks off tomorrow with the Market at the Mill from 4-7 p.m., after which the streets will close at 7 p.m. in preparation. From 8-10 p.m. enjoy Singing in the Park with The Nostalgia Band on the Hannah Park Stage.
Farmers Day officially begins at 9 a.m., Saturday July 21, in downtown China Grove, with the opening ceremony on the Main Stage, with patriotic presentations, welcomes and speakers.
The popular dunking booth’s first ‘target’ is China Grove police officer James Briggs. The ‘target’ changes every 30 minutes through 2 p.m.
The Little Mr/Miss Farmers Day entry deadline is at 9:45 a.m. at the Hannah Park Stage. The contest begins at 10 a.m. and will be judged by Miss Rowan County Scholarship Pageant ladies, Miss Rowan County Anna Seagroves, and Miss Rowan County Outstanding Teen 2012 Mallory Outen.
The three entertainment venues — the Main Stage, the Hannah Park Stage and the Children’s Stage — will offer continuous entertainment from 9:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. — when it’s time for the fireworks.
The live entertainment includes bands such as Piedmont Natural Gas, Eden’s Gate, The Night Move Band, Offered Soul and Castaways. There will be presentations by Center Stage Dance Co., Southern Style Cloggers, children’s entertainment by Burns & Co., as well as the Y Service Club raffle drawing.
Also on hand from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. will be Charlotte author Pat Davies, signing copies of her book, “Wizard Jasper and the Lost Princess.”
From 7-10 p.m., Darrell Harwood and the Cool Water Band perform live in concert, and at 10 p.m. the day culminates with fireworks.
