St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church scholarships have been awarded for 2012-13.
College scholarships are for $500 per semester, $1,000 for the year; and vocational/technical college scholarships are $250 per semester, $500 for the year. The total scholarships awarded for 2012-13 is $23,250.
The recipients are:
• Jonathan Clark Agner (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at Western Carolina University this fall. He plans to major in Athletic Training. He is the son of Tim and Mary Jo Agner of Salisbury.
• Lauren Elizabeth Allen (new, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will enter Clemson University this fall as a freshman. At East Rowan, she was a member of Junior Civitan and Future Farmers of America. She plans to major in Animal and Veterinary Medicine. She is the daughter of Lorrie and Bob Allen of Salisbury.
• Haley Ellen Barrier (renewal, $500), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a senior at Duke University this fall to graduate in December. At Duke, she participates in Chemistry Outreach as a teaching assistant. A Durham Regional Emergency Department volunteer, she is an English/Pre-Health major and a Dean’s List student. She is the daughter of Lonnie and Lisa Barrier of Salisbury.
• Whitley Shay Barrier (renewal, $500), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a junior at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College this fall. She is a Dean’s List student who will major in nursing. She is the daughter of Ronnie and Shalyn Barrier of Salisbury.
• Zachary Matthew Brown (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington this fall. He plans to major in Computer Science. He is the son of Stephen and Earlene Brown of Salisbury.
• Carsen E. Byrd (renewal, $500), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at RCCC this fall. She plans to pursue an Associate in Science degree, and will then major in Poultry Science at North Carolina State University. She is the daughter of Jim and Julie Byrd of Salisbury.
• Jacob Heilig Byrd (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at North Carolina State University this fall. He plans to major in Forestry. He is the son of Jim and Julie Byrd of Salisbury.
• Shane Michael Campbell (renewal, $500), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a junior at RCCC this fall. At East Rowan, he was a member of FFA. He plans to major in Criminal Justice. He is the son of Debbie P. Campbell of Salisbury.
• Richard Alan Cleveland III (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a junior at North Carolina State University this fall. At NCSU, he is in the University Scholars Program, is a Goodnight Scholar and is an Aerospace Engineering major. He is the son of Richard and Chris Cleveland of Gold Hill.
• Ashleigh Lauren Cline (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of Concord High School, will be a senior at North Carolina State University this fall. At NCSU, she participates in the University Scholars Program, is a Goodnight Scholar and is a Dean’s List student. A PAMS Ambassador and member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, she is a Mathematics major. She is the daughter of Sonja and Gary Cline of Concord.
• Summer Curlee (new, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, is entering Wingate University as a freshman this fall. At East Rowan, she was a member of the track team for three years. She has obtained her CNA I license and served an internship at Autumn Care. Summer plans to major in nursing. She is the daughter of Gary and Donna Curlee of Salisbury.
• Timothy F. Driggers II (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte this fall. He will major in Mechanical Engineering and Physics. Tim and his wife Emily live in Salisbury.
• Allie Leigh Henrickson (new, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will enter the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this fall as a freshman. At East Rowan, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Sigma Phi Gamma and Student Council. She participated in Project Unify, was an Outstanding Senior, a Granite Quarry Civitan Scholar, a Junior Marshal and a member of Junior Civitan Club. She is undecided on a major. Allie is the daughter of Chad and Renee McDaniel of Salisbury.
• Christa Renee Henrickson (renewal, $500), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a senior at UNC-Charlotte this fall to graduate in December. A Dean’s List student, she plans to major in Elementary Education and enter the teaching profession. She is the daughter of Chad and Renee McDaniel of Salisbury.
• Ashley Kate Kesler (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at Meredith College this fall. At Meredith, she is a member of the Cross Country team and plans to major in Child Development. Ashley is the daughter of Anne Kesler Blume and Kevin Blume of Salisbury.
• Shelby Lauren Kesler (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a senior at Meredith College this fall. A member of the Meredith Fashion Association, she plans to major in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Marketing. Shelby is the daughter of Anne Kesler Blume and Kevin Blume of Gold Hill.
• Lacey Paige Maners (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a junior at Wingate University this fall. A Chemistry/Pre-Pharmacy major and cheerleader, Lacey is the daughter of Randy and Donna Maners of Salisbury.
• Lindsey Raye Maners (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at Wingate University this fall. At Wingate, she participates in the Honor’s Program and cheerleading. A President’s and Dean’s List student, Lindsey plans to major in Biology/ Pre-Physician’s Assistant. She is the daughter of Randy and Donna Maners of Salisbury.
• Cameron Cole Morgan (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at Pfeiffer University this fall and plans to major in Biology. He is the son of Mike and Crystal Morgan of Richfield.
• Victoria Ashlynn O’Neill (new, $500), a graduate of West Rowan High School, will enter RCCC as a freshman this fall. At West Rowan, she was a member of the Marching Band. She will be a Dental Assistant major. She is the daughter of Amy and Gary O’Neill of Salisbury.
• Katelynne Elizabeth Poole (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a senior at Brevard College this fall. She participates in Women’s Varsity Basketball, is a Dean’s List student, SAAC member and an SAC Honor Roll member. A member of the Tri Beta Honor Society and the Honors Program, Katelynne received the award for having the highest GPA in the Health Science Program in 2011-12 and plans to major in Health Science. She is the daughter of Brian and Sandra Poole of Salisbury.
• Avery Hoke Rogers (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a sophomore at Guilford College this fall. At Guilford, he is a member of the Baseball Team, a Dean’s List student and plays the guitar in music. He plans to major in Mathematics. He is the son of Kendall and Lynn Rogers of Salisbury.
• Colton Wade Rogers (new, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will enter the UNC-Charlotte this fall as a freshman. At East Rowan, he was a member of the Junior Civitan Club. He plans to major in Political Science/Pre-Law. Colton is the son of Greyland and Kim Rogers of Salisbury.
• Weston Grey Rogers (new, $750), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will enter RCCC as a freshman this fall and UNC-Charlotte in the spring. At East Rowan, he participated in basketball and golf. He plans to major in Biology. Weston is the son of Greyland and Kim Rogers of Salisbury.
• Carleigh Beth Simmons (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a senior at Appalachian State University this fall. A member of Gamma Beta Phi academic fraternity, Appalachian Student Dietetic Association and a Dean’s List student, she is majoring in Dietetic Foods and Nutrition. She is the daughter of Kay and Phil Simmons of Salisbury.
• Brooke Nicole Stoner (renewal, $1,000), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a senior at East Carolina University this fall. A member of the Chemistry Club and a North Carolina Nursing Scholar, she is also an ECANS School Nursing Associate and is majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Michael and Teresa Stoner of Salisbury.
• Shelby Leigh Ward (renewal, $500), a graduate of East Rowan High School, will be a junior at Davidson County Community College this fall. She plans to major in computer Information Technology. She is the daughter of Jeff and Rhonda Ward of Salisbury.
