Since 1972, Historic Salisbury Foundation has worked to preserve residential, commercial and industrial buildings in Salisbury and Rowan County.
Most of these historic properties were purchased by HSF, deed-restricted to give long term protection and resold to buyers who agreed to rehabilitate and use the buildings.
A number of the properties were stabilized or partially rehabilitated by the foundation before resale.
Several properties continue to be owned and preserved by the foundation, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
Below are buildings from the Shaver Rental Houses and West Square historic districts that HSF has had a role in preserving.
