KMD Construction on Engineers News & Record Top 100 list
[0x13]SALISBURY — The Engineers News & Record has named KMD Construction in Salisbury to the list of top contractors in the Southeast.
KMD is ranked 84th. The list is compiled by ranking total gross revenue for 2011.
KMD is licensed in seven southern states and has expanded into the northeast. The company works in the grocery store industry and recently added Walmart as a client.
Owner Kyle M. Davis said while he is thrilled with the ranking, KMD’s revenues have fallen due to lack of growth in the construction industry. Four years ago, revenues were nearly three times what they are now, Davis said. “Back then, we wouldn’t have been even close to making the list, even with triple the volume,” he said. The company has survived the economic downturn by providing superior customer service, Davis said.
“We feel very fortunate to have maintained our customer base these past few years and to be among the top in our trade in the southeast,” he said.
KMD anticipates growth in the coming year, with 2012’s revenues expected to exceed 2011. Larger clients include Sam’s Club, Costco, JCPenney, Developers Diversified, Whole Foods, Food Lion and Zurich.
Davis and his wife, Kim, opened KMD Construction in 2001. They have 26 employees at their office on West Innes Street. Visit www.kmdconstruction.net or contact the company at 704-636-6560.
