Elusive monkey captured after escaping from primate center

A macaque monkey that escaped from the Wake Forest Primate Center in northern Davidson County on June 29 was captured near the Forsyth-Davidson county line Tuesday afternoon, WGHP of Greensboro reported.
Around 4 p.m., the monkey was shot with a tranquilizer dart by a Forsyth County Animal Control Officer on Frye Bridge Road, Tim Jennings with Forsyth County Animal Control told the television station.
The monkey was then taken back to the Wake Forest Primate Center.
The monkey went missing after escaping from the center two weeks ago. The monkey was spotted near Frye Bridge Road on Monday.
The university uses monkeys for medical testing. The 16-year-old monkey has spent her life breeding at the center.
