Keegan Linza (North Rowan) turned in a strong start for Great Falls on Sunday in the Pioneer League.
Linza (2-0) pitched six innings against Billings with no walks and two strikeouts. He allowed five hits and an unearned run in a 3-1 victory.
Third baseman Chris Curley made the most of his first game with the Kannapolis Intimidators, driving two, including the go-ahead run in the eighth inning in a 3-2 win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Sunday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
In his first at-bat for Kannapolis, Curley drilled a home run to left field.
Kannapolis won four of five games against Greensboro to improve to 9-8 in the second half.
Corey Seager (NW Cabarrus) went 1-for-5 in Ogden’s 13-2 win against Grand Junction on Sunday and lowered his batting average to .385.
Middle school football
Knox will start optional summer football workouts on Tuesday, July 10, from 3:30-5:15.
Athletes should come prepared in sneakers and cleats along with workout clothes.
Workouts will be every Tuesday and Thursday. For more information, contact Knox Middle School.
Summer workouts for China Grove Middle School football will begin today, from 8-10 a.m.
Meet at the tennis courts behind the school. Workouts will be every Monday and Thursday for the remainder of the summer.

Preseason conditioning workouts begin today for players planning to play at North Rowan Middle.
Workouts are 5:30-7:30 p.m.
All paperwork must be completed and physicals must be on file.
Players should report to the locker room with cleats, tennis shoes, shorts and shirts.
Information will be distributed about the football camp to be held at North Rowan High on July 31-Aug. 1. Cost of the camp is $40.
Jaguars soccer
Coach Tom Sexton has announced that the Salisbury Academy Soccer Skills Camp will be held at the Academy from Monday, July 9 to Friday, July 13, from 12 until 4.
The fee is $100 for an entire week of soccer-specific physical training, skills practice and technical sessions that include video and classroom presentations.
The camp is designed for ages 9-15. Registration can be arranged by calling 704-232-2296.
Players should bring a cooler/water bottle, indoor and outdoor shoes, guards, and a beach/ large towel.
Sexton will be at SA on July 9 at 11:15 for any on-the-spot registrants. All players in the area are invited.
Sexton also announced that Salisbury Academy team soccer camp for boys and girls in grades 4-8 will be held on July 16-20 from 12 until 4, with all information from week one applicable.
This camp is specific though, for SA players.
Carson girls hoops camp
Carson basketball camp for elementary and middle school girls will be held July 23-25.
Elementary school camp is held 8 until 12, with middle school camp from 3:30-7:30.
The cost is $50.

Members of the winning team were Don Goodnight, Harry Owens and Ricky Honeycutt.
The team of Ty and Bev Cobb, David Huneycutt and Treva Honeycutt finished second.
Ty Cobb won closest to the pin on No. 3, while Ricky Honeycutt had the longest putt on No. 8.
