A cluster of thunderstorms will move across North Carolina this afternoon and another, larger group of storms will move out of West Virginia into the state, bringing occasional downbursts, hail and possible high winds.
Included in the watch are Cabarrus, Iredell, Cleveland, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Union and York counties.
In addition, today is a code orange air day, unhealthy for sensitive groups, also in effect until 9 p.m.
Children, active adults and those with respiratory or heart disease should limit outdoor activity.
