SALISBURY — A Salisbury man died in a fire at a home on Ludwick Avenue Monday morning, authorities said.
Larry Wendell Knox, 53, was found inside 231 Ludwick Avenue by emergency responders, according to Salisbury Police.
Salisbury Fire Battalion Chief David Morris said fire crews were dispatched at about 7:15 Monday morning. A neighbor smelled smoke when he got up this morning and made the call.
When firefighters arrived about four minutes later, they went around the house, but saw no smoke outside. They forced entry into the one-story house after they saw flames in the front windows.
Inside, they found the fire victim near the rear door. They brought the man outside and tried to resuscitate him, but were not able to do so.
Morris said it took fire crews about 15 minutes to put out the fire. The cause had not yet been determined.
The State Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to assist Salisbury Police and Salisbury Fire.
It didn’t appear there was anyone else in house, and there is no visible damage to the exterior.
Along with Salisbury Police and Fire, Rowan Rescue Squad, Granite Quarry and Spencer fire departments were on the scene.
