Authorities arrest man on most wanted list
SALISBURY — Authorities in South Carolina arrested a convicted sex offender wanted on charges of failing to notify deputies of his address change.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said Robert Junior Gray, who has been on the Sheriff’s Most Wanted list since 2010, was captured by the U.S. Marshal’s Service in Bamberg County, S.C., on June 21.
Gray was one of the original Rowan County Most Wanted members.
He spent nearly eight years in jail after he was convicted in 2001 of three counts of felony sex offense, felony second-degree rape and a felony sex charge.
Deputies said the 58-year-old left his home about a year after he was released from prison and did not report his address to authorities.
