China Grove to hold public hearing on budget
CHINA GROVE — The town board will hold a public hearing today regarding its 2012-13 budget.
The board has not approved its budget, but are considering a 7-cent tax rate increase.
The current tax rate is 47 cents and would go up to 54 cents if the town board approved an increase.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at town hall, 308 E. Centerview St.
The board doesn’t plan to establish fees for services. The town does not have any fees on its garbage, recycling or other services. The idea of instituting fees was mentioned and has since been shot down.
Throughout the budgeting process there were several options on the table including no property tax rate increase, service fees, a 5-cent increase and a 6-cent hike.
