This old photograph, from June 14, 1980, is supplied by Historic Salisbury Foundation as part of its 40th anniversary celebration. It shows the annual Children’s Flag Day Tour that used to be conducted by the foundation. Sandra Swanson Bigsby, a former librarian, is giving a presentation to children on the lawn of the Salisbury Female Academy, most recently the home of The Wrenn House restaurant. The annual Flag Day tour was led by volunteer docents, often dressed in period clothing, and it visited many historic sites in the downtown.
