CHARLOTTE (AP) — Prosecutors in Mecklenburg County plan to seek a death sentence if a man is convicted of killing two Kannapolis men in Charlotte more than three years ago.
The Charlotte Observer reported that 22-year-old Brandon Marell Williams was arrested in April and charged with murder in the deaths of two 20-year-old Kannapolis men.
Prosecutors said Thursday they will seek a death sentence against Williams.
Kevin Javier Cano and Jamie Aubrey-Marquis Gill were shot to death on Nov. 7, 2008, as they sat in a car at a stoplight in Charlotte.
Two city buses and several cars were damaged when the victims’ car was sprayed with gunfire.
A second suspect, 32-year-old Richard Henry Jordan, was arrested the day of the killings.
Prosecutors have not released a motive.
