The Central Carolina Conference has announced its all-league teams and will announced its athletes of the year today.
Salisbury’s Troy Beaver is the CCC Golfer of the Year. Salisbury’s Clark Alcorn and West Davidson’s Andrew Kahn were runners-up.
Salisbury’s Alex Nianouris, Eric Edwards, Joseph Rusher and Alex Lee also made the All-CCC team.
West Davidson’s David Klinkoski was named coach of the year.
Salisbury’s Dale Snyder was runner-up for coaching honors.
Salisbury’s William Brown was named CCC Player of the Year for boys track. Joining Brown on the All-CCC team were Salisbury’s DeQuan Robertson, Montana Harmon, Terrance McElrath, Luke Hutton, Philip Simons, Elbert Moulton and Hanson Saryee.
CCC Coach of the Year was Central Davidson’s Carl Wagstaff.
CCC co-players of the year for boys tennis were Salisbury’s Alan Lebowitz and Central Davidson’s Levi Bruff.
Central’s Justin Palmer was named coach of the year.
Salisbury’s Michael Ogden, Abraham Post and Brock Overcash also were named All-CCC.
Co-players of the year for girls track were Salisbury’s Jaleesa Smoot and West Davidson’s Callie Wynn.
Salisbury’s Cheyenne Gloster, Briunna Gibbs, Janiea Withers, Zacola Hamilton, Serena Cowan and Janaye Hargraves joined Smoot on the All-CCC team.
Salisbury’s Sallie Kate Meyerhoeffer made the All-CCC softball team.
Co-players of the year were Central Davidson’s Carley Tysinger and West Davidson’s Alicia Middleton. Coach of the year was East Davidson’s Amanda Beck.
Salisbury’s Whitney Brown, Susannah Dixon and Kristel Rodriguez made All-CCC in girls soccer.
West Davidson’s Wynn was player of the year. West Davidson’s Chris Brown was named CCC Coach of the Year.
Salisbury’s Brian Bauk, Parker McKeithan, Scott van der Poel, Chance Bowden and Kyle Wolfe made the All-CCC baseball team.
Co-players of the year were East Davidson’s Tyler Stroup and West Davidson’s Jake Walser. CCC Coach of the Year honors went to West Davidson’s Jerry Walser.
All-NPC
East Rowan’s Bradley Robbins was named NPC Pitcher of the Year, while West Iredell’s Sean Grant repeated as NPC Player of the Year.
North Iredell’s Denny Key was named NPC Coach of the Year for baseball.
East’s Chase Hathcock, Jared Mathis, Nathan Fulbright, Roby Holmes and Andy Austin joined Robbins on the all-league team.
Carson’s Josh Martin, Greg Tonnesen, Connor Bridges, Colton Laws and Bryson Prugh made All-NPC, along with West Rowan’s Hunter Teeter, Justin Evans, Michael Ball and Michael Pinkston, and South Rowan’s Eric Tyler, Tyler Fuller and Matt Miller.
South Rowan center fielder Kayla Corriher was named NPC Player of the Year for softball.
South’s Katherine Starnes made All-NPC, along with West Rowan’s Hunter Gibbons, Sarah Perrine and Jessica Snider; East’s Allyson Mills, Sydney Poole, Steffi Sides and Bobbi Thomas, and Carson’s Chloe Monroe, Sidney Grkman and Jesse Beach.
NPC Pitcher of the Year was North Iredell’s Karley Harkey, while NI’s Lauren Gaither was coach of the year.
West Rowan’s Allison Baucom was named NPC Player of the Year for girls soccer, and West Rowan’s Nick Brown was named NPC Coach of the Year.
West’s Toni Lucente, Mariah Coleman, Mary McCachren, Kayla Boley and Janna Coleman made All-NPC, along with Carson’s Hannah Elmore, Katie Barringer, Sarah Safrit, Cassie Howard and Alex Allen, and South’s Leslie Franks and Brittany Goodman.
East’s Conner Lowman, Jared Hough and James Lohr; West Rowan’s Jake Kennedy; South’s Davis Richards and Evan Neas, and Carson’s Andrew Purcell made All-NPC in boys golf.
Statesville’s Jack Archibald was the player of the year, while Statesville’s Ted Crowley was coach of the year.
Carson’s Hayden Faulkenberry; East’s Justin Allen, Evan Rodgers and Dillon Brewer; South’s Jared Waters, Reynold Sanchez and Jacob Ouellette, and West Rowan’s Ben Wilson made All-NPC in boys tennis.
Statesville’s Julian Hawkins was player of the year. Carson’s Andy Houck was named coach of the year.
South Rowan’s Angie Chrismon was named NPC Coach of the Year for girls track and field.
Rowan girls swept the individual awards.
West’s Christa Landy was MVP for sprints. South’s Hannah Houston was MVP for distance events. Carson’s Jan Sitterson was the field MVP.
Carson also placed Shirley Marshall, Sarrah Holman, Jesse Troutman and Aaliyah Newson on the All-NPC team, along with East’s Casey Gullett; South’s Lauren Register, Avery Locklear, Nicole Mauldin, Talvanisha Lawing and Dakotah Lambert, and West’s Shay Steele, Amber Holloway, Alexis Kemp, Allison Manley and Hannah Landy.
Carson’s Myquon Stout was field MVP for NPC boys track, while East’s Cole Honeycutt was distance MVP. Statesville’s Labryant Nichols was sprints MVP.
East’s Rick Roseman was NPC Coach of the Year.
Carson’s Jacob Fink, Darius Gardner, Rodney Richards and Nathan McMasters were All-NPC, along with East’s Marshall Shank, Graham Lyerly, Brad Oden, Conor Honeycutt, Raykwon Torrence, Dalton Bost, Hakeem Gittens and Casey Padgett; South’s Curtis Martin, and West Rowan’s Trey Cuthbertson and Donada White.
All-CPC
Davie County’s Corey Randall was named CPC Player of the Year for baseball, while Davie’s Ryan Foster was named CPC Pitcher of the Year.
Davie also placed Will Beeson, Nick Boswell and Matt Vernon on the All-CPC team.
Reagan’s Jamie Mabe was named CPC Coach of the Year.
Davie’s Anna McBride, Blakely Gantt, Kaitlyn Hutchins and Shelby Weatherman were All-CPC in girls track.
Davie’s A.J. Blaskievich, Colin Joldersma, Caleb Mathis, Adam Smith and Kenyon Tatum were All-CPC in boys track.
Davie players making All-CPC in softball were Abby Daniels, Morgan Hendrix, Kristina Parrish, Sadie Lagle and Allie Fruits.
Davie’s Seth Morris, Joe Sink, Tommy Dillon and Phillip Kelly made All-CPC in golf.
Laura Shelton was Davie’s lone representative on the All-CPC girls soccer team.
Davie’s Scott Gallimore, David Hursey and Evan Lankford made All-CPC in boys tennis.
CPC Player of the Year in tennis was Rowan County native Chad Hoskins, who plays at R.J. Reynolds.
American Legion
Rowan’s scheduled game at Stanly on Tuesday was postponed by rain.
The Kannapolis-Mocksville game that was supposed to played Tuesday also was postponed.
Games scheduled for tonight are Mocksville at Rowan; Concord at South Rowan; Mooresville Legends at Kannapolis, and Mooresville Post 66 at Stanly.
Minor leagues
The Kannapolis-Rome game was washed out on Tuesday.
The teams will play two seven-inning games today, starting at 10:05 a.m. at CMC-NorthEast.
Major leagues
Bobby Parnell (East Rowan) pitched a scoreless seventh inning and helped the New York Mets beat Philadelphia 6-3 on Tuesday.
Seattle’s Kyle Seager (NW Cabarrus) had three more hits on Tuesday, including two doubles.
Wrestling camp
There are still openings for anyone interested in attending wrestling camp at Appalachian with East Rowan coach Barry Justus.
The camp is July 15-18 and is for middle school and high school. Any wrestler who will be in grades 7-12 next school year can attend.
The cost is $335. A $100 deposit is due by this Friday, June 1, at 9 a.m. to LouAnn Phelps in the East office. Make checks payable to East Rowan High School. Call Justus at 704-642 2324 for information.
CVCC Bucs baseball
In Catawba Valley CC’s 11-1 win against Lackawanna (Pa.) on Monday, Brett Huffman (West Rowan) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Randy Shepherd (West) got two outs in relief, including a strikeout with the bases loaded.
CVCC played again in the Division II JuCo World Series on Tuesday against Heartland (Ill.) but trailed 8-1 late in the game.
