SALISBURY — Bojangles’ at 901 E. Innes St. opened again for business Tuesday after the restaurant was demolished and rebuilt.
The new 3,800-square-foot restaurant at the corner of Innes and Arlington streets will seat nearly 80 diners, a press release said.
Bojangles’ tore down the old restaurant and built the new one turned 90 degrees to face East Innes with a more efficient drive-through and parking lot.
Another part of the development, removing the median on Arlington Street and adding a left-turn lane on East Innes, is intended to improve traffic flow. The city and Bojangles’ entered an agreement to restore Arlington to five lanes, with Salisbury reimbursing the company up to $16,000 of the cost.
The N.C. Department of Transportation is also updating traffic signals at the intersection.
The company’s press release said the new restaurant represents an economic investment. The average investment made by the company for new facilities is $1.7 million and each new store creates an average of 25-35 new jobs.
The Salisbury restaurant will bring about 40 jobs to the community, according to the press release.
The new Bojangles’ will also affect the local economy through increased tax revenues and by using local companies for recurring needs such as landscaping and repairs, the press release said.
