The Salisbury-Rowan AARP Chapter #4314 will hold its annual Membership Cookout on Thursday, June 7 at noon at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, 1120 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue. A regular meeting will follow at 1 p.m. The speaker will be Linda Coplin of the Family Crisis Council. Members are encouraged to bring a friend, and Rowan County residents who are 50 years and older are invited to the cookout. There is no charge to attend, but reservations are requested (Call 704-216-7714).
AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization that helps people who are 50+ have independence, choice and control in ways that are beneficial and affordable to them and society as a whole. The Salisbury-Rowan chapter offers members education, advocacy, community service, leadership and fellowship opportunities.
Rowan County residents who are 50 years and older are invited to join the chapter; members to not have to be retired to join. Annual dues for the chapter are $3. New members joining during the year have dues prorated at 25 cents per month for each month remaining in the year. The chapter meetings are from 1:00-2:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, 1120 S. Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue.
