Bettina Joi Isaac

Bettina Joi Isaac, formerly of Salisbury, received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., on May 19, 2012, at the Grand Ole Opry.
While studying at Meharry, Isaac was communications co-chair for the Meharry-Vanderbilt Student Alliance, community service chair of her class, Tennessee’s medical student delegate for the American Medical Association, President of the Emergency Medicine Interest Group and is a dedicated member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She completed medical internships in Gastroenterology-Pediatrics at Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia, Pa., and Neonatology at Sinai in Baltimore, Md.
Dr. Isaac graduated magna cum laude from North Carolina State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences and nutrition, and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She studied nursing at the University of Virginia, where she was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is also a 2002 honor graduate of North Rowan High School.
Dr. Isaac will be a resident physician in pediatrics at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children in Falls Church, Va., and will reside in Alexandria, Va. She plans to sub-specialize in neonatology upon the completion of her residency training.
Dr. Isaac’s parents are Timothy and Deborah Witt Dixon of Salisbury and William Isaac of Columbia, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Bette Jo Lowery of Salisbury and Homer and Shirley Witt of Upper Marlboro, Md.
