McCanless – McDermott

Mr. and Mrs. Ross William McCanless of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Katharine Ann McCanless, to Mr. James Raymond McDermott Jr. of Charlotte. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Raymond McDermott of Shiloh, N.J.
Kate is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Charles Eagle and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ross Watts McCanless. A graduate of Salisbury High School, she graduated magna cum laude from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and received a Master of Accounting degree from NCSU. A CPA, she is the accounting manager of Horizon Investments LLC in Charlotte.
Jim is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond W. McDermott and Mr. and Mrs. H. Eugene Hubschmitt. A graduate of Cumberland Regional High School, he graduated from Catawba College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He is a vice president at First Citizens Bank in Charlotte.
The wedding is planned for Sept. 29 at Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on the campus of Catawba College in Salisbury.
