The LandTrust for Central North Carolina invites the public to its Annual Membership Meeting on Sunday, June 3, beginning at 2 p.m. at the 400-acre Springer Farm, Point Road, in Davie County. Tours highlighting ongoing conservation and habitat restoration projects on the property will be offered following a brief meeting.
Admission to the event is free. An RSVP is required. The event will end at approximately 5 p.m.
“Our annual meeting is an opportunity for us to talk to members, friends, supporters and potential members about our achievements in the past year and our upcoming projects. We encourage anyone who may want to learn more about land conservation or our organization to attend,” says Jason Walser, executive director at The LandTrust.
“This year we are excited to introduce the public to the Springer Farm in Davie County, a landmark project for the organization and the keystone of our 1,200-acre ‘Two Rivers Preserve Project’ located at the confluence of the Yadkin and South Yadkin Rivers.”
Walser notes the organization acquired the property in 2012 after working with the landowner and his estate for more than 10 years. The property is located adjacent to the city of Salisbury’s water intake.
“The Two Rivers Preserve, with the Springer Farm as its keystone, is truly one of the special natural places in the Central Piedmont,” says Walser. “We invite the public to come out on Sunday, June 3, to learn more about the conservation benefits this project area provides to our service region, our plans for the future, and get a tour of this unique conservation property.”
The LandTrust is the only private nonprofit land conservation organization serving Davie, Davidson, Cabarrus, Rowan, Stanly, Montgomery, Richmond and Anson counties. They also serve portions of Iredell and Randolph counties in the Yadkin watershed. It has conserved more than 18,000 acres since its formation in 1995.
