Flash-flood, storm watch issued for Rowan

The monsoon-like weather rolling through the region is expected to continue tonight.

The National Weather Service issued a severe storm and flood watch for Rowan County this afternoon. A watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather.
Slow-moving thunderstorms could drop 1 to 2 inches of rain this afternoon and evening, following an already soggy start to the week that left ground saturated and waterways swollen.
Flash flooding could develop quickly along creeks and smaller rivers.

Forecasters say the threat of storms will ease after midnight. The lows will be in the 60s, and the chance of rain is 70 percent.
Wednesday’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high abbot 80.
