Motorcycle club hosting event Saturday for toddler with cancer

The Piedmont chapter of the Hard Chargers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club will host an event Saturday to raise money for the family of Connor Hedge, a toddler with cancer.
An arts and crafts sale and silent auction will be held on the lot beside Burger King on Jake Alexander Boulevard and Mooresville Road.
Through Kickstands for Connor, the club — whose members are from the Rockwell area — has been collecting money and raising awareness by selling bracelets and setting donation buckets at local businesses.
Connor is suffering from neuroblastoma cancer. The parents of the 18-month-old learned he had the disease in February, a press release said. It began as a noticeable lump over his left eye, and an MRI found it in his liver and kidneys as well.
He is undergoing chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants. His father is in the Army, but military insurance does not cover all the costs the family is incurring, including copays for hospital visits and medications and travel costs for treatments, the press release said.
Some businesses have donated items for the silent auction and others can do so by emailing bobbyswillow@yahoo.com or kickstandsforconnor@yahoo.com or by contacting Deborah Smith at 704-754-0417. To make a donation, go to any local Wells Fargo Bank and give to the Connor Hedge Cancer Fund.
