SALISBURY — Police arrested a Salisbury man Thursday night after witnesses said he fired a handgun at two men who were at his child’s mother’s house.
According to a Salisbury Police report, Terry Isaac Brown Jr., of South Ellis Street, appeared intoxicated when he showed up at the home on West Cemetery Street about 10 p.m.
The report said his child’s mother, Latoya Cathcart, was inside the home while her father and a friend were on the front porch.
They later told police Brown was holding a beer when he arrived, and began arguing about a domestic issue.
A silvery Chevrolet Malibu pulled up and two men got out, the report said.
Witnesses told officers both men were in their 20s, one had dreadlocks and the other had short hair, and Brown began arguing with them.
The 28-year-old then pulled out a handgun and fired at the two men.
They jumped in the car and fled, and Brown ran into the West Cemetery Street residence, witnesses said.
Cathcart called the police, while her father and the friend held Brown until officers arrived, the report said.
Police said they found a 9 mm handgun in the front yard.
Brown was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon and misdemeanor discharging a firearm within city limits.
He was given a $5,000 bond.
Brown is a nine-time felon, according to the Corrections Department.
Since 1999, he has been convicted of 24 charges, court records show.
He was most recently convicted of felony larceny from a person in 2011, driving while impaired in 2010 and felony possession of cocaine in 2008.
