Nathan Brown House 5K Saturday

GRANITE QUARRY — Nathan Brown House Inc., a 501c3 non-profit, will host its Third Annual 5K Race, Walk and Fun Run Saturday in front of the future Nathan Brown House Museum at 1266 S. Main St. (Old Hwy. 80).
Proceeds of the event will be used for repaying debt incurred in 2010 to replace the roof on the house.
The 5K will begin at 9 a.m. in front of the house, proceed into downtown Granite Quarry at Lyerly Street and return to the start.
Official timing for the race will be provided by Vac-n-Dash of Albemarle. Medals will be awarded to male and female winners in multiple age groups. The top three overall and top three masters (age 40 and up) will receive trophies. All racers will receive T-shirts and refreshments.
Pre-register online at www.active.com or from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the adjacent fellowship hall of Christiana Lutheran Church, 6190 U.S. Highway 52, across from the winery in Granite Quarry.
There will also be a half-mile Fun Run for youth ages 12 and under beginning at 8:30 a.m.
