n Livingstone track
Quanera Hayes finished second in the women’s 400 metes in a school-record 54.38 seconds in the Johnson C. Smith Invitational.
She’s a qualifier for the D-II Nationals.
Brittany Burton won the women’s high jump (5-33/4).
Ahmad Garrison set a school record in the discus (158 feet, 11 inches) and placed second in the meet.
B.J. Grant (South Rowan) placed second in the high jump, clearing a season-best 6-8.
Bryan Aycoth (West Rowan) placed second in the javelin (178-5).
Justin Avery (West) was eighth in the 200 (22.25).
Livingstone’s track teams will compete in the CIAA Championships. Championships on Friday and Saturday at Virginia State.
Wells Fargo Cup
In the statewide Wells Fargo Cup standings for overall athletic excellence:
N.C. School of Science & Math leads 1A. North Rowan is tied for 13th.
In 2A, Salisbury is fourth behind first-place Carrboro, Shelby and North Lincoln.
None of the NPC teams are in the top 15 in 3A. Robinson is 12th. Cardinal Gibbons leads.
In 4A, Cary Green Hope is on top. Reagan is ninth, and Mount Tabor is tied for 11th.
Prep baseball
The YVC gets five guaranteed berths in the 1A playoffs.
North Rowan is currently in seventh place in the league, but there also are seven wild-card spots available in the 1A West bracket.
Salisbury is a great bet to secure one of the CCC’s four berths in the 2A bracket.

Middle schools
Boys soccer
Southeast’s undefeated boys rolled 6-0 against Mooresville.
Brandon Flores and Ricky Maldonado scored two goals each, while Ahmedin Salcinovic and Bryan Fragoso had one apiece.
Assists were by Flores, Fragoso, Daniel Nava and Pedro Perez. Peter Lor led the defense.
Girls soccer
Southeast’s girls lost to Mooresville (score N/A).
Farrah Jordan scored twice for the Patriots on assists by Maria Delgado and Josiea Robinette. Defensive player of the game was Graciela Nunez.
