Teen accusedassault,strangulation
ROCKWELL — A China Grove teenager is accused of hitting a Rockwell woman in the head with a shotgun multiple times, pointing the gun at her and using a shoestring to strangle her.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Johnathan Alan Morton, 19, of Dusty Oak Trail with assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon and assault by pointing a gun Saturday.
Morton also faces communicating threats charges for threatening to kill the woman and her family, according to an arrest warrant.
He is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
