The Salisbury-Rowan Davie Chapter of the Livingstone College National Alumni Association will host a fundraiser, The Black and Blue Gala, on Friday, April 20 from 8:30-midnight at the Salisbury National Gurard Armory. There will be entertainment by local favorite Divided by Four, featuring vocalist Isaac Heggins. The event is semi-formal. Advance tickets are $20, at the door $25. Scrabble deadline
Today is the deadline to enter Rowan County Literacy Council’s annual Scrabble Scramble fundraising game at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at the Holiday Inn Salisbury.
A buffet dinner and three rounds of team Scrabble are $25 per person, or $250 for table of 10. Call 704-216-8266.
St. Thomas auditions
The St. Thomas Players announce open auditions for “Dinner With Friends,” directed by Missy Barnes of the Catawba College Theatre Department, on Monday-Tuesday, April 30-May 1, at 7 p.m. at the Center for Faith & the Arts, which is the basement of Haven Lutheran Church at 207 W. Harrison St.
If necessary, call-backs will be held on Wednesday, May 2.
Only one night of auditions is necessary, and auditionees will be asked to do cold readings from the script. Headshot and resume is optional.
The director is looking for 4 actors, 2 men and 2 women, who can play early 40s.
The show will be performed at the Florence Busby Corriher Theatre on the Catawba campus June 13-23.

The Inn’s anniversary
The Inn, 1012 Mooresville Hwy 150, celebrates its sixth anniversary as a live contemporary Christian music venue this Friday and Saturday.
Friday is Christian metal night with Fat Kid Wins Cake, Distance, The Helper, Fall of Goliath and Alas We Breathe

Coarsey is ‘Floyd Collins’
Salisbury’s own Jonathan Elliott Coarsey has the title role in the Carolina Actors Studio Theatre’s current production of “Floyd Collins,” CAST’s first musical theatre offering.
“Floyd Collins” is the real life tale of a caver who gets trapped for more than a week.
“Floyd Collins” is being performed April 12-May 12, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and elect matinees at 2:30 p.m.

HUNTERSVILLE — International and regional Celtic music talent set to perform at the 19th Annual Rural Hill Scottish Festival & Loch Norman Highland Games on April 21-22 include Celtic rock groups the Rogues and Rathkeltair, the hard-driving Texas Celtic sounds of Clandestine, and traditional Celtic musicians Ed Miller, Jil Chambless and John Taylor.

Comedy quiz show
CONCORD — Win real money out of Adam Growe’s pocket in a unique and uproarious stand-up comedy quiz show Saturday, April 21 at the Davis Theatre.
Contestants are rewarded for their knowledge, but there are always funny multiple choice answers to the questions. Inbetween games, the Canadian comedian performs stand-up comedy.
