SALISBURY — Four people, including a 6-year-old girl, were taken to the hospital following a head-on collision on Industrial Avenue Thursday.
Salisbury Police officer D.P. Fleming said a gray 1994 Honda attempted to pass a city garbage truck in the 600 block of Industrial Avenue when the crash happened.
Christian Salazar, of Oakhurst Drive, and his passenger, Jenny Obrien, were taken away on stretchers.
Fleming said a 6-year-old girl was in the backseat without restraints. She was also taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Joe Glover Jr., the driver of the red and black Ford Ranger did not appear to have serious injuries, but his father, Joe Glover, was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
The front ends on both vehicles had significant damage and the windshield of the Honda was shattered.
Authorities said none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.
Witnesses said the Honda swerved back and forth several times, trying to get around the garbage truck, just before the crash.
Fleming said charges are expected against Salazar. He will be charged with driving left of center and child restraint violation.
