SALISBURY — Keith Fero has moved from the Lube Shop at 329 S. Main St., which is closed, to Goodyear Auto Service at 315 E. Innes St.
Fero began his new job March 23 and serves as the auto service manager for Goodyear.
Goodyear is open every day but Sunday and welcomes customers from the former Lube Shop, Manager Howard Reeder said.
Team Auto Group ready to play ball with Rowan Little League
SALISBURY — Team Auto Group is partnering with the Rowan Little League in Salisbury.
Team Auto Group has joined forces with the national Chevrolet Youth Baseball program to provide equipment, clinics, money and an opportunity to raise an additional $10,000 through a Chevrolet vehicle sweepstakes. The program kicked off March 1 and runs through July 15.
The Chevrolet Youth Baseball program, beginning its seventh year, has helped raise more than $13 million to aid local teams, affecting more than 2.7 million young people in communities where Chevrolet’s customers live, work and play. This year, about 1,600 Chevrolet dealers are participating.
Team Auto Group will present the Rowan Little League with 10 new equipment kits complete with equipment bags, baseball buckets, whiffle balls, hitting net, batting tees and T-shirts. The sponsorship includes youth clinics featuring former MLB/MiLB players and coaches and instructors from Ripken Baseball.
Team Auto Group will make a donation to Rowan Little League, and the league will have the chance to raise more money through a Chevrolet Youth Baseball Fundraiser.
Participating leagues will keep 100 percent of the proceeds from the fundraiser, which will give away a Chevrolet Equinox or Chevrolet Cruze to five winners across the country. Second place is a television and Blu-Ray player.
Chevrolet is also bringing back Diamonds & Dreams for a third year.

Mark Harrell Jr. has joined Peeler Environmental. Originally from California, he has been a pest management professional since 2006.

Reiff joins advisory board at CMC-NorthEast
Concord — Dr. Mark S. Reiff, a physician with Cabarrus Family Medicine, has been named to the Northern Group Advisory Board at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
The 11-member board advises CMC-NorthEast regarding the mission, quality and service needs of the communities served by the Northern Group of Carolinas HealthCare System. Terms for appointed members are for three years.
Reiff is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he attended undergraduate school and medical school. He completed his residency training with the Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program. He is board certified in family medicine and sleep medicine. He practices at the Cabarrus Family Medicine office at 5641 Poplar Tent Road in Concord. He and his wife, Claudia, have two children.
Carpet cleaning franchise now open in Charlotte area
DAVIDSON — A new expert in carpet and upholstery cleaning is open for business in the Charlotte area, and it’s being run by someone with all the leadership experience needed to keep the operation firing on all cylinders.
Performance Chem-Dry is owned by long-time NASCAR crew chief Jay Guy and serves residential and business customers in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Rowan counties.
Based in Davidson, the business is a franchise of Chem-Dry, the world’s largest carpet and upholstery cleaning company.
“In today’s economy, people are more likely to clean things than replace them,” said Guy, a Davidson resident. “So, this was a great opportunity for me to start a business to fill a need in the community.”
The 26-year NASCAR veteran isn’t abandoning the racetrack. He will still be atop the pit box each week as crew chief of the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford and driver David Ragan. Guy’s wife, Carrie, will oversee the day-to-day operations of Performance Chem-Dry and two technicians will do most of the field work. As his schedule permits, Guy will get behind the wheel of the service van and clean carpets himself.
Empowering women seminar
SALISBURY — Five women shared inspirational stories at the first Empowering Women for Success self-development seminar, hosted last week by Maia Smith and Renu Derma Natural Skin Care Products.
About 40 women attended the free event and heard from the following speakers:
• Dr. Marie Odile Langhorne, adjunct professor of French at Catawba College. A native of Normandy, France, she relocated to New Orleans in 1974 and worked as a teacher, translator, interpreter and consultant. After Hurricane Katrina, she relocated to Spencer.
• Lorna Anderson, Miss California 1957. She began studying the accordian at age 9 and performed on the instrument at the Miss America pageant. She is working to prevent domestic abuse.
• Deb Holton-Smith, certified health coach at Take Shape For Life. A former oncology nurse, she founded the first Connecticut breast cancer support group. Her program focused on weight loss and anti-bullying efforts.
• Andrea Hardy, financial advisor and coach with the Hardy Financial Group. She works with women to reduce debt, prepare for financial goals and ensure they can retire with their desired retirement income.
• Rev. Diannia, also known as Lady Dee, spiritual leader and life coach from Rockwell. She is a survivor of child abuse and offers transformational workshops.

Ruddick Corp. to Harris Teeter
CHARLOTTE — Ruddick Corp.’s plan to change its name to Harris Teeter Supermarkets Inc. is taking effect, and several executive titles have been changed.
Last year, Ruddick sold its industrial thread subsidiary, American & Efird. The Harris Teeter supermarket chain is now the sole business of Ruddick Corp. The company’s ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange will also change from RDK to HTSI. The name and ticker symbol changes, as well as the executive appointments, are effective Monday.
The company unveiled the following executive changes:
• Thomas W. Dickson has been named chairman of the board and chief executive officer. He previously was chairman, president and CEO.
• Frederick J. Morganthall II was named president and chief operating officer. He previously was president of Harris Teeter.
• John B. Woodlief was named executive vice president and chief financial officer. He previously was VP-finance and CFO.
• Rodney C. Antolock was named EVP. He previously was EVP, operations and merchandising, of Harris Teeter.
The company also said it will have its headquarters in Matthews, where Harris Teeter had been based.
