SALISBURY — Two favorite authors from North Carolina, Ann Ross and Rose Senehi, are coming to Literary Bookpost, 110 S. Main St., this week.
Ross, author of the popular “Miss Julia” series, will be at the Bookpost on Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. Senehi, who writes fiction about real environmental issues, will be at the shop Saturday, April 7, 1-4 p.m.
Ross will give a short analysis of her new book, “Miss Julia to the Rescue” and sign copies of the book. Her other novels will also be available.
Ross entered college at the University of North Carolina at Asheville while her own children were in college. Bored in her empty nest, she earned her master’s and doctorate degrees in literature at UNC-Chapel Hill. She then taught at UNCA. Her first Miss Julia novel, “Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind,” was published in 1999.
She is the author of 12 other novels featuring the popular Miss Julia. She lives and writes in Hendersonville and has been to Salisbury before.
On April 7, Senehi will come to the Bookpost for a signing from 1-4 p.m. Her latest book is “Render Unto the Valley,” set in the southern Blue Ridge Mountains.
The action takes place in Fairview and includes the history of the farming community near Asheville. Senehi again tackles an environmental issue — sustainable agriculture — and uses the saving of a mountain by the Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy as a subplot.
The book is published by KIM Publishing of Chimney Rock, where Senehi lives. This is a third stand-alone book in her Blue Ridge Series. The first one, “In the Shadows of Chimney Rock,” was nominated by the Southeast Independent Booksellers Association as the best book written about the South in 2009.
Senehi is wrapping up her 45-store book tour of the Southeast.
