Sheriff: Erwin student brings BB gun to school
SALISBURY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to Erwin Middle School on Friday after receiving a call about a student with a weapon.
Capt. John Sifford said when an officer arrived, Assistant Principal Carl Snider told him several students had seen a 13-year-old boy with a gun in his bookbag. The officer was also told the student had been showing the weapon to his peers.
After searching his bookbag, Snider discovered that the boy had a loaded Daisy Powerline 201 BB pistol.
Sifford said the boy received a juvenile referral.
